The Dunbar 1650 Project is a volunteer-run initiative co-ordinated by the Scottish Battlefields Trust, a charity working to protect and interpret Scotland’s battlefields. The project is headed by Dunbar resident Dr Arran Johnston, author of “Essential Agony: the Battle of Dunbar“.
The Project began in 2017 with support of a grant from Historic Environment Scotland. It continues with the aims increasing awareness of the battlefield, providing on-site interpretation, holding public engagement and commemorative events, and seeking ever greater understand of the people, places and events connecting to the battlefield.
We are keen to encourage new volunteers to get involved.
